Robert "Bobby” Lovergne Jr. was elected Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States on July 29, 2026, at the 127th VFW National Convention in Reno, Nevada. Lovergne served in the U.S. Air Force from 1983 to 2002 and earned his VFW eligibility through service during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with two devices, Air Force Achievement Medal with three devices, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with five devices, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five devices, Air Force Expeditionary Medal with one device, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three devices, Saudi Arabian Medal for the Liberation of Kuwait, and Kuwait Medal for the Liberation of Kuwait. He joined VFW Post 1736 in Alexandria, Louisiana, in 1991 and later transferred to Post 3750 in Luling, where he remains a Gold Legacy Life member. He held elected and appointed positions at the Post, District, and Department levels. He was elected Department of Louisiana Commander in 2020 and achieved All-American status during his term. At the national level, he served on the Veterans Service Resolutions Committee, Programs Committee, Finance and Internal Organization Committee, and National Council of Administration. He also served as Special Aide-de-Camp
