How it works

  1. Plan a project that directly supports homeless veterans in Washington State.
  2. Complete the request form and email it to the program chair at tgruchalla@vfw.org.
  3. Run your project once approved.
  4. After the event, send an After Action Report (AAR) to Department Headquarters. Photos are welcome.
This program funds projects led by Posts and Auxiliaries. It does not provide direct individual assistance.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a Washington VFW Post or Auxiliary.
  • Project must serve homeless veterans within Washington State.
  • Maximum grant request is $500 per project.

Grant details

  • Amount: Up to $500 per project.
  • Use of funds: Project-based support that benefits homeless veterans. Examples include outreach events, supply drives, service fairs, hygiene kits, and meal support tied to a Post/Aux project.
  • Request form: Use the current-year PDF: 2025–2026 Homeless Veteran Grant Form.
  • Submission: Email the completed form to the program chair: tgruchalla@vfw.org.
  • After Action Report: After your project, submit an AAR to Department Headquarters and include photos if available.
