Washington's guide to contacting legislators
  1. Know the issue

Read the relevant legislation, the VFW's published position where available, and the source documents before sharing information.

  2. Contact your elected officials

Use official district and congressional directories to identify the offices that represent you. Brief, specific, courteous messages are easier to understand and respond to.

  3. Participate in the public process

Attend a town hall, follow committee hearings, submit comments, or give testimony when opportunities are available.

  4. Help your Post stay informed

Share verified updates with your Post and encourage members to review official VFW resources. Coordinate with Department leadership before presenting a position as an official VFW or Post position.

Stay informed. Stay involved.

Follow national Action Corps updates and connect with your local VFW Post to help keep veterans' issues in the conversation.
