Post Requirements

  • Meet the division quota below; retain at least 80% of prior-year annual members.
  • File the election report, remain in good standing, and meet charter-age eligibility.
  • Advance Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen, and Teacher of the Year entries to District judging; use Department judging for teachers if no District judging applies. Record entries in the Programs Dashboard by January 31, 2027.
  • Through the dashboard, donate $125 to National Veterans Service and at least $75 restricted to DPAA.
  • Participate in May’s Day of Service; submit quarterly community service reports and increase total service by at least 5%.
  • Buy five Buddy Poppies per member, with a minimum purchase of 500.

District Requirements

  • Exceed the June 30, 2026 membership total by at least one member and rank among the division’s top 20.
  • File an election report and maintain good standing.
  • Donate at least $100 restricted to DPAA through the Programs Dashboard.
  • Advance Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen, and Teacher of the Year entries to Department judging; record them in the dashboard by January 31, 2027.

For Washington All-State submissions, Districts send applicable award entries to the Department Adjutant. Follow each program’s earlier judging deadlines.

Department Requirements

Exceed the prior-year membership total by at least one; file monthly legislative reports; donate $200 restricted to DPAA; advance the three required award entries to National and record them by January 31, 2027; and conduct a National Veterans Service fundraiser with proceeds donated through the dashboard.

Awards and Special Honors

Qualifying Posts receive a streamer, home citation, and magazine recognition. The top 20 Posts per division receive Commander awards; the top five Commanders receive $1,000 with required National Convention attendance.

Qualifying Districts receive recognition and citations; the top 10 receive additional Commander awards. The top two District Commanders receive $1,000 with required convention attendance. Qualifying Departments receive Commander awards and $1,000.

Triple Crown and Recruiting

Triple Crown honors Commanders who achieve All-American at Post, District, and Department levels. Recruiting incentives and Early Bird awards are detailed in the National PDF.
