Meta has selected several organizations to help place this technology into the hands of blind and low-vision veterans and families across the country.
The VFW Foundation is one of those organizations and will receive 20,000 pairs of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses for distribution through participating VFW Departments.
Here in Washington, the Department is preparing the process that will be used to identify eligible recipients, review eligibility, and distribute Washington's available glasses.

Washington Applicant Eligibility
Who may be eligible?
The program is intended for veterans, service members, and their immediate family members, including spouses and children, who experience legal blindness or significant low vision.
Vision Eligibility
Applicants must meet program criteria for legal blindness or low vision.
Legal Blindness
Best-corrected central visual acuity of 20/200 or less, or a visual field of 20 degrees or less.
Low Vision
Significant, uncorrectable vision loss affecting safety, independence, or the ability to perform daily activities.
Veterans & Service Members
Eligible veterans and service members may participate when they meet the applicable vision requirements.
Immediate Family
Qualifying immediate family members include spouses and children.
Do I have to be a VFW member?
The national program materials do not state that VFW membership is required. Eligible veterans, service members, spouses, and children may participate subject to program eligibility and availability.
