About the Award
Purpose
The Humanitarian Award honors a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars or its Auxiliary’s who has demonstrated compassion, commitment, and service to homeless
or needy veterans and their families.
Who May Be Nominated
Nominee Eligibility
- The nominee must be a current member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars or its Auxiliaries.
- Qualifying service may include direct outreach, community events,
education, volunteer activities, or other assistance to veterans
and their families.
- The nomination should describe the nominee's individual contribution
and the impact of their service.
- If the nominee is a Post Commander, the nomination should include
the required approval or signature identified on the official form.
What We Look For
Criteria for Selection
- A positive impact on the welfare of homeless or needy veterans and
their families.
- Meaningful contributions to humanitarian programs, outreach, or
direct assistance.
- A demonstrated commitment to serving veterans through volunteer
efforts, education, events, or community programs.
- Significant assistance that improved the lives or circumstances of
veterans or their families.
Submission Requirements
Required Documentation
- A completed
2026 Humanitarian Award Nomination Form.
- A detailed written explanation describing why the nominee should be
recognized.
- Specific examples of the nominee's service, actions, accomplishments,
and impact on veterans or their families.
- Any supporting information requested on the official nomination form.
