Nomination Form

Recognize a dedicated VFW or Auxiliary member making a difference for those most in need.

Purpose

The Humanitarian Award honors members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliary who have demonstrated exceptional compassion and service to homeless or needy veterans and their families. One award is presented annually to a VFW member and one to an Auxiliary member.

Nominee Eligibility

Nominee must be a current member of the VFW or its Auxiliary.
Service may include direct outreach, event coordination, education, or volunteer activities.
VFW members may nominate Auxiliary members, and vice versa.
If the nominee is a Post Commander or Auxiliary President, their District Commander or President must sign the form.

Criteria for Selection

Recognized for a positive impact on the welfare of homeless or needy veterans and their families.
Made meaningful contributions to humanitarian efforts through service and compassion.
Demonstrated commitment through events, education, and volunteer initiatives.
Provided significant assistance in improving the lives of veterans or their families.

Required Documentation

Completed Humanitarian Award Nomination Form.
A detailed written explanation describing why the nominee should be honored — include specific examples, outcomes, and impact.
