All general orders and correspondence must be read at Post meetings and filed for future reference, as directed by the State Commander.

Department General Orders

  • GO 1 – July 2025
    Installation notices, officer confirmations, and post reporting deadlines.
  • GO 2 – July 2025
    Commander’s appointment of Chief of Staff and committee assignments.
  • GO 3 – July 2025
    Department programs, reporting reminders, and convention follow-up.
  • GO 4 – September 2025
    Membership incentives, compliance reminders, and updated contacts.
  • GO 5 – December 2025
    Compliance enforcement, insurance requirements for all Posts, Mid-Winter travel guidance, community service reporting updates, Commander and Auxiliary projects, sponsorship efforts, inspection requirements, and recognition of membership-achievement Posts.
  • GO 6 – February 2026
    Award deadlines (March–April), Post nominations in March and elections in April, delegates elected in April (strength as of March 31), delegate dues due June 1 ($6 per delegate), reminders on bonding/insurance/audits and arrearages leading to suspension, VFW Day of Service (May), plus membership recognition, top recruiters, and current suspended Posts.

National General Orders

  • GO 1 – September 2025
    National officer appointments, National Home updates, and first quarter reporting guidance.
  • GO 2 – October 2025
    Mid-year membership drive, recognition program details, and administrative updates.
  • GO 3 – November 2025
    Membership eligibility reminders, reporting requirements, and administrative clarifications.
  • GO 4 – December 2025
    Members not current on dues lose all rights and may not attend meetings or functions; clarifies proper processing of membership applications; announces consolidation of multiple Posts and authorization of a new Post charter.
  • GO 5 – January 2026
    Reiterates that members unpaid after their anniversary date are not in good standing and lose all rights; requires all new, reinstated, and transfer membership applications to be voted on at a regular Post meeting; and announces consolidation of Posts in Michigan, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and New Jersey.
